Anyone over the age of 25 should remember the classic Atari Lunar Lander game. You control a very blocky looking craft similar to the one that first landed on the moon in the 60's. As the player you need to use your thrusters to defy gravity and land your craft safely and gently down on the target. This game is simple enough to code and is often one of the fist games a "Rookie" developer will learn to create. As an animator trying to master coding in Actionscript 3, I knew, if only for nostalgia's sake, I had to give it a try. I started simply by creating my lander out of a circle graphic in flash and making my target area a rectangle. Once I had the controls working on the circle I moved on to creating the ship, scene and animations. The result is a new flash twist on the classic lander our 8 year old selves loved so much. Just keep in mind that this is not a finished game and is by no means marketable in it's current form. This was just a game development test so that I could see how my animation skills could intermingle with my newly mastered knowledge of motion animation programming and interaction. I give you... Future Probe!
